Pink Garter Theatre Returns to Jackson Hole, Wyoming!

Presenting OKLAHOMA, Singin’ In The Rain & Who’s Playing The Sheriff for the Summer of 2008.

After being absent for more than 10 years, the lights are bright again on Broadway….50 W. Broadway in Jackson Hole, Wyoming that is.  The Pink Garter Theatre is returning with three great musicals this summer. Although the building has always been there, it has not been using the name, The Pink Garter Theatre, in quite some time.  After hearing that the theatre may be gutted and turned into yet another retail shop in town, new owners Randy and Mysti Mugleston just couldn’t let that happen. The Muglestons felt that there were too many fond memories in the theatre to “just let it go”.  As a matter of fact, Randy had been an actor at the Pink Garter back in the late 80’s. Over the years many families had made a tradition of coming to Jackson Hole to spend the day and see a show at the Pink Garter. Randy and Mysti wanted to make sure that those traditions will continue or begin for families living in the area.

This summer there will be cheers, laughter and applause when the audience returns to see great summer musical theatre.  OKLAHOMA!, a western favorite, opens the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend, coinciding with Jackson’s Old West Days.  Only one week later, the second show, Who’s Playing The Sheriff?, will open.  Both shows will then run on alternating nights until Singin’ In The Rain opens on June 13th. All three shows will then play alternating nights through Labor Day.  With each show playing over 30 times, you should be able to catch all three shows over the summer. The shows begin at 7:30pm Monday through Saturday with 2:00pm matinees on Wednesday and Saturday.

What makes the Pink Garter Theatre so much fun is that the same company of actors, technicians and musicians perform in all three shows. Most of the actors for the theatre come from local universities in the area.  Brigham Young University, Weber State University, Utah State University and Western Wyoming Community College are some of the schools represented.  However, there are company members that come from as far away as Oregon, New Jersey and even Hawaii.  This group of just 20 performers, musicians and technicians were cast from over 100 people auditioning. The actors are expected to sing, tap dance and perform in all three shows during the summer.  “What makes that is great,” says company member Michelle Stay, “is that you might be the lead in one show, a chorus member in the second show and then run concessions for the third.” All this makes for a fun and busy summer.

Ticket prices are $20.00 to $25.00 for adults with 10% off for seniors/students and $5.00 off for children under 12.  There are special rates for groups of 20 or larger and exceptional prices for Scouts or other youth groups. You can view the show schedule and purchase tickets by going online at www.pinkgartertheatre.com.  You can also make reservations by calling the box office at 307-200-4407. Make sure to visit the reopening of the Pink Garter Theatre this summer, where the West meets Broadway.
