Grand Targhee Resort opened for the season on Saturday and, even though the upper portion of the mountain is still closed while accumulating an early season base, the Nordic track and Shoshone lift are open. Some friends and I headed over for the Big Day on Saturday and had a blast. The Shoshone lift terrain, sunshine and soft snow offered up the perfect combination for breaking in those summer legs. We skied long enough to get slight goggle tans before heading into the Trap Bar in the village area for some fun apres. Tickets were discounted to $35, although check rates before you go.
