Town Gears Up For Old West Days This Weekend

The town of Jackson is getting ready for the 27th Annual Old West Days Celebration, May 23 - 26. An event that draws people from all over the country, Old West Days celebrates the trues spirit of the Rocky Mountain West with live music and entertainment, arts and crafts, food, rodeo and more.

Stagecoach rides and free kid activities are available and adults will enjoy the Old West BrewFest in the covered tent on Deloney Street and the Jackson Hole Rotary Wine Fest at Snow King Resort.

Friday, May 23

Mountain Man Rendezvous & Traders Row / 9am - 5pm / Teton County Fairgrounds

Pre-1840 Mountain Men Celebration complete with a Traders Row, Candy Cannon, Bow & Arrow Competition, Hawk & Knife Competition, and Atlatal Competition. For more information, contact Tom Lucas at 307-330-7436.

Antler Rendezvous / 9am - 6pm / Teton County Fairgrounds

Everything handmade with or from antlers adn then some! Vendors showcase their wares for sale. For more information contact Joe Schloss at 307-733-4007.

The Kids Cowboy Connection / 5pm / The Wort Hotel

Family fun in front of The Wort Hotel on Broadway. Meet real Western gunslingers, poets and musicians. Get an autograph or two, along with refreshments, sponsored by The Wort Hotel adn the famous Silver Dollar Bar and Grill.

Jackson Hole Shootout / 6pm / Town Square

Shootout gang on the Town Square, the longest running shootout in the country, since 1957.

Cowboy Kick-off at the Bar J / 7pm / Bar J Chuckwagon

You'll be served up a truly western style Chuckwagon dinner and enjoy world-class cowboy entertainment by the nationally acclaimed Bar J Wranglers! Reservations recommended. 307-733-3370

Jackson Hole Rotary Wine Fest / 5pm - 8pm / Snow King Events Center

A tasting of over 400 wines from around the world. Tickets available from all Jackson Hole Rotarians and at local liquor stores. $25 in advance, $30 (subject to revision) at the door. 307-733-4466

Oklahoma! / 7:30pm / The Pink Garter Theatre

Set in a Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the century, the high-spirited rivalry betwen the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story. Street Breakfast / 7am - 10:30am / Town Square

Follow your nose to the tent on Deloney Street where you can fill up on a delicious, hot breakfast before wandering over to stake your claim for prime parade seating!

27th Annual Old West Days Parade / 10am / Town Square

One of the last and best horse-drawn parades of the Old West! Enjoy Mountain Men, vintage vehicles, covered wagons, Native American dancers, and the legendary gathering of gunslingers of the West!

Old Town Entertainment / 12pm - 6pm / Town Square

Country Western music, kids crafts and activities, shootouts, mechanical bull riding, yodeling, clogging, cowboy poetry, line dancers, cowpoke rodeo, pickin' and fiddlin', and bagpipes too!

Old West Brewfest / 11am - 5pm / Town Square

Try a sampling of an age-old craft. Enjoy a variety of beers from regional breweries. Brew samplers: look for the covered tent on Deloney Street. For more information call Tim Harland at 307-732-3912
