When Wyoming Governor Matt Mead signed ride-sharing legislation in early 2017, it brought both Lyft and Uber to the state for the convenience of residents and visitors alike. These ride-sharing services are a convenient way to get around in Jackson Hole. To use either Lyft or Uber, riders need only download the mobile app and add a method of payment.
Once you've got the app on your mobile device the service of your choosing will dispatch the closest personal driver, as well as giving you the option to share the ride with multiple passengers in order to keep your ride cost down. Whether you like pooling to your destination or prefer to ride alone, Lyft and Uber make it easier to get around the Jackson Hole area than ever before.
If you love the convenience of Lyft and Uber, then you’ll appreciate Jackson's other convenient ground transportation options. Below are our top tips for Jackson Hole ground transportation:
Transportation To and From Jackson Hole Airport (JAC)
When you deplane in Jackson Hole Airport (JAC), after you’re finished taking photos and gawking at the amazing views, you’ll find a fleet of local taxis lined up outside the airport, ready to take you to your destination. A Black Car Taxi is a reliable taxi service that we regularly use for our guests. For help planning travel to and from the airport, you can also give us a quick call at 307-733-4005.
Many visitors wish to have the freedom of a rental car for exploring Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, and the surrounding area. Renting a car in Jackson Hole is easy and JH can help you find the vehicle you’re looking for, from compact cars to larger SUVs.
Getting Around Town in Jackson Hole
You may not need to rent a car while you’re here. Downtown Jackson and Teton Village both feature walkable shopping, dining, and lodging. It’s good to remember that many hotels provide ski and airport shuttles as well. Additionally, if you are booking activities through JH, such as a guided hike or a wildlife tour, those activities may include pick up and drop off from your accommodations.
The START BUS
The START Bus provides free shuttle service within the town of Jackson and North. For a small fare of $1-$3 you can also ride the START Bus from downtown Jackson to Teton Village, where Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is located. There are discounts available for children under 12 years of age and seniors over age 60. The fleet is also hybrid, so you can feel good about your transportation choice!
