AJ DeRosa's Wildlife Snowshoe Adventure
Join us for a snowshoe hike to our Winter Tipi Camp located on the banks of the Snake River. Our journey takes us through a cottonwood forest that is home to Elk, Moose and Deer. We follow tracks in the snow and occasionally catch a glimpse of the small herd of Elk that make this area their winter home. A short hike through the forest brings us to the banks of the Snake River and spectacular views of the Teton Range. It is here that we regularly see Bald Eagles and a wide array of waterfowl that are their favorite winter prey. The Trumpeter Swan is a winter resident of the river bottom and we usually see and hear this magnificent bird. River Otter and Coyote also frequent the river bottom during winter season and occasional sightings are a treat.
The destination of our hike is a delightfully warm and cozy Tipi. Hot chocolate, coffee and tea await us as we arrive. A hot lunch of homemade soup and grilled sandwiches is served. Then it's back in the snowshoes for a hike along a spring creek and more opportunities for wildlife viewing. Evening and moonlight trips include appetizers around our Riverside Campfire, Dinner in the Tipi and a walk through the forest on a torchlit path to end the evening.
