Jackson Hole: Run Like the Wind

This weekend is the weekend for runners in Jackson. Grab your favorite kicks and head to either Jackson Hole Mountain Resort for the JHRM Gondola Run or to Pineday for the annual Pineday Half Marathon. If you're ready for a solid hill climb, this is the race for you. Participants will gather at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort near the Bridger Gondola. Walkers will start up the 2,784 vertical feet of elevation gain at 9:15 a.m. (walkers will not be timed). Runners will take off at 10:00 a.m. and make their way up 5.25 miles of ski area service roads. The race is $25 for registrants through 2:00 p.m. on September 26 at the Teton Country / Jackson Recreation Center. Race day registration is available at the Bridger Center from 8:30 - 9:15 a.m. at the rate of $35 per person. Bibs will be given out at the Bridger Center between 8:45 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. The entry fee includes a race souvenir, post race BBQ, gondola ride down the mountain and the opportunity to win great raffle prizes. Prizes will be awarded to overall and age category winners.

And if you're more of a distance athlete, the Pinedale Half Marathon is also taking place this Saturday. The 2008 Pinedale Half Marathon will celebrate five years of welcoming "all walks of life" to beautiful Pineday, Wyoming. The 2007 event drew more than 500 runners, walkers and families of all ages. The event will start at 8:00 a.m. A free BBQ will follow!
