If you missed the Tour de France this year, you'll be able to get your road biking fix this weekend. LOTOJA is a European-style road race that starts in Logan, Utah and ends in Jackson taking racers 206 miles. It began in 1982 with nine cyclists and has taken place every year since, with a 1,000 participant cap since 2004. This year's race will take place Saturday, September 6th.
LOTOJA is the longest one-day USCF-sanctioned race in the country, with participants coming from all over the United States to test their skills on some of the country's more grueling road biking terrain. Entering Jackson from the south on Highway 89, bikers end at Teton Village and must cross the finish line before sun down in order to post a qualifying time. Racers depart at 6:25 a.m. and begin the ride. From start to finish, riders gain 2,000 feet in elevation and will pedal over two passes, each topping 7,000 feet.
Results will be announced and the Awards Ceremony will take place on Sunday morning at 10:30 at the Jackson Hole High School.
