Avalanche to Cascade Canyon: A 2-Day Hike through the Tetons
The hike from Avalanche Canyon to Cascade Canyon is challenging, yet rewarding. Start at the Bradley Taggart Lake trail head and work your way along the edge of Taggart Lake until you see a sign for the Valley Trail. At that point, veer off the path and follow a social trail, which is not marked or very well defined. Hike past waterfalls and up scree fields to Lake Taminah. The trail stops here, but if you continue up the canyon, along the South Teton, you'll find yourself at Snowdrift Lake and The Wall. From here, jump on the Kit Lake trail and head down and out of Cascade Canyon. It's not an easy hike, but the views are well worth the sore feet. Approximate mileage: 20 miles.
